Specifics on parts swaps between C-series.
**I will start by saying nothing on an NSX can realistically swap except for a few things. Obviously injectors can be and pressure regulator. The intake manifold is simliar but is actually pretty restrictive compared to a type 2. The pistons can be swapped if you get the correct aftermarket ones. However for the price and modification it is not worth it. Nothing else from the motor physically that i am aware of can swap!(i am checking into the oil pump gear itself though at moment).
Now a list of parts that can swap..
If you have a C32a base block you can install the following:
type 2 rods are the same.
Type 2 pistons are the same(honing may be required)
Swapping heads can be done
Intake enlarging on a type 1 head can be done for type 2 valve.
Valve springs can be swapped.
Cams can be swapped.
Intake manifolds can be swapped(pair pipe block off plate needed)
Engine and tranny mounts can be swap for changing motors.
Ecus can be swapped for whatever reason.
Exhaust can be swapped(type 2 muffler flows more)/Type 2 y-pipe shorter than type 1!!!!!!
5spd flywheel can be used with 6spd clutch
Auto differential(aluminum) can be swapped for a manual one but needs slight machining etc.
Fuel rails can swap
Can use 3.5(c35) rods.
On a c35a motor:
RL head is same as type 1 head except for intake runner angle(so keep RL head)
Type 2 heads can be swapped(larger intake valve) however custom manifold will be needed.
Cams can swap.
Springs can swap
Rocker arms CANNOT swap.
Exhaust manifolds could be but not needed(3.5 higher flowing)
intake manifolds can be swapped
Swap over the water coolant passage to retain your stock wire loom!
Valve covers can be swapped to retain oil temp sensor from a c32a
Injectors are OBD2 and cannot be used!
Spark plugs are different ratings!
coil packs are OBD2! cannot be swapped(if i remember correctly)
Cam sensors can be swapped
differentials can be swapped.
C32 tranny can be used but an adapter bracket is recommended for upper right bolt hole.(strength)
C35 piston wrist pin is of full floating design not the same as C32.
TIMING BELT CANNOT BE SWAPPED FOR A C32!!!!!!
Engine can be run off a C32 ECU but not as efficient unless properly tuned(as stock in an RL)
The only known piston swap for a c35 is using a modified 07'+ MDX piston to boost compression to a calculated 10.7:1 using RL heads done by known acura internet member who goes by Swift on most forums(myself).
Some other J-series pistons CAN be swapped. However aftermarket ones would be ideal however the time to figure out the differences in combustion chamber volume to calculate new compression ratio it would be simplier to just get a custom piston made for your application.
This is all I have as of now.
